Google released Android 15 earlier this month, but it’s currently available only to developers. The consumer release is still pending. It’s now reported that owners of compatible Google Pixel smartphones will start receiving the update from October 15.
Release Date and Holiday Impact
Typically, Google rolls out updates on Mondays, but this year, October 14 is Columbus Day in the United States. Due to the holiday, the developers decided to postpone Android 15’s launch until the day after. The rollout could still face delays if any significant issues are discovered and need fixing.
Compatibility and Future Updates
If everything proceeds as planned, owners of Google-branded smartphones will be able to install Android 15 on October 15, notes NIX Solutions. The update will be available for Pixel 6 and newer models. However, for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, this will be their last major Android update.
As for other manufacturers, it’s unclear when Android 15 will start appearing on their devices. This will depend on how quickly they adapt and distribute the new OS version to compatible devices. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
