Google is testing the updated design of the Discover Recommendations feed in the latest beta of its app on Android devices. This is reported by 9to5Google.
In the new design, Google removed the search bar from this feed and updated its header.
If in the current version the header of the Discover feed is a large color Google logo, under which there is a search line, then in the new version the logo has become much smaller in size and monochrome. It now also displays a button to access the Snapshot feed and a user profile picture next to it, which when clicked opens the Google app settings, and the search bar is no longer there. The new design is not integrated with Google doodles.
App researcher Dylan Roussel found out that the redesign is currently only available for devices running Android 12.
The new version of the Google search app – 12.14 – is now open only to beta program members.
NIX Solutions notes that whether the new skin will be launched for all Android users is unknown.
