NIX Solutions: Google Expands Gemini Live Features

As announced at MWC earlier this month, Google has started rolling out new features for users of its Gemini Live voice assistant. The latest additions include screen sharing and camera interaction capabilities powered by the Project Astra algorithm.

Some Android users began receiving these features later this week. One user reported activating the updated Gemini Live interface and noticing a new “Share screen with Live” button located next to the existing “Ask about screen” option. Currently, users can only share the entire screen; the ability to select specific applications is not available at this stage.

Project Astra Camera Features

Alongside screen sharing, Google introduced access to the Project Astra algorithm, which turns the device’s camera into an interactive tool. With this feature, users can interact more dynamically with their environment. To utilize this, users must open the Gemini Live interface and activate the camera. A button in the lower right corner allows switching to the front camera for additional flexibility.

These features showcase Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance AI-powered functionalities on Android devices. By gradually releasing the updates, the company is ensuring stable integration across various models.

Wider Rollout Expected Soon

It makes sense that Google is taking a phased approach to the rollout, gradually making the new tools more widely available to Android users, notes NIX Solutions. If everything proceeds as planned, both the screen sharing and Project Astra camera features will likely reach more users with compatible devices in the coming weeks.

We’ll keep you updated as the rollout continues and more integrations become available.
