Users Report Unusual Battery Usage
Android users began noticing that the main Instagram app was consuming significantly more battery than other apps used under similar conditions. A Reddit user shared that on his Samsung Galaxy A53, Instagram used 12.4% of the battery in just 54 minutes of active screen time. By contrast, WhatsApp consumed only 2.4% in 49 minutes of use.
In response to the issue, many users began searching for temporary workarounds. Some tried installing older versions of the Instagram app, but this approach led to abnormal device heating. “Starting today, Instagram has released an app update that should fix a battery drain issue on Android devices. Please ensure you have the latest version of the Instagram app (build 382.0.0.49.84) to resolve this issue,” the support page stated.
