NIXSOLUTIONS: New YouTube Mini-Player Design Testing

Google has started testing an updated design for the YouTube playback window for the Android platform. The current mini-player at the bottom of the screen will be replaced by an updated element in the spirit of the picture-in-picture function.

Enhanced User Experience

Currently, when a video is minimized, it is “glued” to the bottom of the display. After the update, it will be “compressed” into a small rectangle with rounded edges. At the bottom, there will be buttons for starting/pausing playback and 10-second rewind or fast-forward. The background for the controls will be white or dark, depending on the selected theme. This new design allows users to have more flexibility and control over their viewing experience.

The user will be able to change the location of the video window by dragging it to any place and changing its size. To close the window, just click on the cross icon in its upper right corner. This added functionality ensures that users can tailor their viewing experience to their preferences, enhancing the overall usability of the YouTube app on Android.

Limited Testing and Future Updates

The function is currently in test mode and is available to a limited number of users. It is unknown when it will be launched globally, notes NIXSOLUTIONS. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of this feature and its wider release. Stay tuned for more information as Google continues to refine and enhance the YouTube playback experience for Android users.

By incorporating this new feature, Google aims to improve the user experience by making video playback more intuitive and user-friendly. As more feedback is gathered from the initial test phase, additional adjustments and improvements can be expected.
