NIXSolutions: Picture-in-Picture Support Added to Chrome for Android

Developers from Google continue to enhance not only the desktop version of their Chrome browser but also pay attention to the mobile versions of the application. This time they’ve added picture-in-picture support to Chrome for Android devices.

NIXsolutions

With the release of Chrome M124, it will be possible to open web pages in the browser in picture-in-picture mode. This feature allows users to switch from browsing a web page to interacting with an application without having to interrupt their viewing of web content. Picture-in-picture will be available in Android apps that use Chrome Custom Tabs to provide a personalized web browsing experience.

How It Works

If support for the new feature is implemented by the developers of an application, a downward-pointing arrow will be displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. After clicking this arrow, the web page being viewed will appear as a separate window in the lower right corner of the screen. If necessary, this window can be moved to another location. To return to the previous mode, simply click on the previously created window.

NIXsolutions notes that the new feature looks quite useful. Surely many have had to close a web page to switch to another application. The implementation of picture-in-picture mode will allow users to do this without interrupting their viewing of web content. We’ll keep you updated on any further developments and improvements.
